Motivated by Love

When you struggle to love, rely on God’s Word to set you straight.  Remember that you are to love your husband as well as to teach others (maybe your daughters who are watching?) to love their husbands.  Consider looking up all the scripture verses with the word love in them.  Love can cover over all wrongs, make a meager meal taste better than a banquet, and provide a rich setting for more love to grow.

If you actively love the Lord, you will find it easier to love the people around you.  First Thessalonians 3:12 says it like this, “May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.”  And First John 4:16 exhorts us to live in love, “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.”

You will have a hard time convincing your husband that you love him if you are not being loving or are speaking poorly about him to others.  Remember that out of the mouth comes the overflow of the heart.  Check your words and monitor your conversations and take to heart 1 John 4:20, “If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.”

Let love motivate you.
